History

A little history 地区のなりたち

In August 1892, 400 farmer-soldier households settled in what was then Asahikawa Village and is now this district. The Asahikawa Heison Memorial Museum, in the grounds of Asahikawa Shrine, tells their story.[63][1][4][73]

Higashi-Asahikawa Town joined the city in 1963. Four years later, in 1967, Asahiyama Zoo opened at Kuranuma.[4][1][2][42]
