The Ainu Culture Forest “Denshō no Kotan” has three rebuilt chise, traditional Ainu houses, and a display on how the Ainu used plants. Admission is free.[39]
It sits in Arashiyama Park, just across the city line in Takasu town, but it is a branch of the Asahikawa City Museum.[39]
Arashiyama is Chi-nomi-sir in Ainu, the Asahikawa Ainu’s “mountain of prayer”, where the Chinomishir Kamuynomi ceremony is held in May or June.[13][32][62]
