Kamui Ski Links sits in what is called Hokkaido’s “powder belt”. The city also has the Santa Present Park Maroose ski slope.[4]
Skiing has a long history here: in 1912 Lieutenant Colonel Lerch came to the army’s 7th Division and taught skiing. Since 1981 the city has held a cross-country ski race, now Vasaloppet Japan, in mid-March.[1][31]
For cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, the visitor center at JR Asahikawa Station rents both in winter.[42]
